      Handloom industry occupies a place of eminence in preserving India's heritage and culture. The industry even as an economic activity stands second place next only to agriculture in providing livelihood to millions of people in the country. The industry's significance lies in its low capital investment, high employment potential, vast value addition and protential for export earnings. among all the states, Andhra Pradesh occupies sixth place in the number of handlooms and fourth place in the number of workers engaged in this sector. The sector is now beset with mainifold problems like obsolete technology, unorganised production system, low productivity, inadequate working capital, conventional producction range, scarcity of raw material, weak  marketing link, overrall stagnation of production and sales and above
