DEPARTMENT OF
BOTANY
The department imparts quality training
in Plant Sciences, both in theory and practical. It equips its students
with basic skills and sound knowledge to pursue further
studies in any field of their choice and interest and also
moulds them into worthy citizens of the mother planet earth,
laying more emphasis on the simple adage “Think globally and
act locally”. With so many advances in the field of life
sciences taking shape at an exponential rate standing at the
threshold of the new scientific world, the present day
students of life sciences have quite a demanding and bright
future ahead of them.
This department has a strong conviction that what its
students get here would keep them in good stead in the world
of fierce competition and challenging
opportunities.
Established in 1952 on a modest scale
to cater to the needs of Intermediate students, the department
has grown from strength to strength in the past more than five
and a half decades of its existence.
